The Ostrich Room (3 – 4 years) is a place for discovery. Children at this age are full of curiosity and creativity — they ask endless questions, imagine new worlds, and want to understand how everything works. This room is designed to support that energy and enthusiasm with rich learning experiences, lots of choice, and just the right amount of structure.

It’s a space where children can follow their interests, learn through play, and start building the confidence that will carry them into their kindy years.

Supporting the Leap from Toddler to Kindy

This is a year of transformation. Children are starting to think critically, explore deeper friendships, and develop stronger self-awareness. Our educators gently guide children through this stage – encouraging big ideas while also providing comfort, structure and plenty of play.

Project-Based Learning, Group Learning & Social Connection

Educators extend on children’s interests with activities that encourage investigation, discussion and creativity – from bugs and dinosaurs to baking and building.

Group times introduce early literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving, while helping children practice listening, turn-taking and teamwork.

Creative, Outdoor Play and Emerging Independence

Painting, construction, imaginative games and nature play are all part of daily life, helping children express themselves and connect with others.

Children are supported to take more ownership of their day, from packing their bags to making decisions in group play and learning.

Fast and clever, Ozzy the Ostrich helps children chase their ideas while staying grounded in routine. Curious and observant, Ozzy reminds children that it’s okay to ask questions, try new things, and stretch their thinking in safe and supported ways.
